Catch Up

Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, the last couple of weekends I have been busy with the Motorbike Club and we have our Summer Party this coming weekend at Court Farm in Banwell, Somerset.

We have had a ride out to Bourton on the Water, what a beautiful village in the Cotswolds and very popular with the tourists.  Last Saturday was Calne Motorbike Show, so we went along to join our friends and promote our club.

In my last post I said I was going to play with a new stamp, well I did and produced the following two cards:

The card above was made using a stamp from Creative Expressions called Wise Friend, designed by Sam Poole.  I have used distress inks in various autumnal colours and dies from Marianne for the leaves and Britannia flower for the roses.

When I have finished the card I looked at it and as I just love the owl I thought I would try it in vibrant colours and see what the result would be and the following card is the result:

With this card I used Spectrum Noir alcohol pens and distress inks in matching colours, I also stamped the owl onto shrink plastic and coloured this in, I think the overall effect works really well.

At our last workshop on the 18th July we worked with distress markers, Spellbinders Die and a Milliner stamp and the card below is my interpretation:

There are more pictures of cards on Carole's blog  http://8thwonderart.blogspot.co.uk/.

As the weather has been unsettled I have had an opportunity to make a couple more Christmas Cards:

These two cards have been made using a stamp from Woodware called Faithful & Joyful.  I stamped this image and embossed, I used black embossing powder on one and gold on the other.  I decided to try different backgrounds, in the first one I used a script stamp by Indigoblu and embossed this in a pale gold and over stamped with a swirl stamp also by Indigoblu and embossed this in black.  The flower is from a Hunkydory collection, the flower inspired the basic colour theme for these cards.  The bottom card I used a crackle background stamp from Indigoblu and distress inks, again the flower is from Hunkydory.

I have voluntered to do a Card Making demonstration at Hobbycraft on the 7th August and need to decide what I am going to do.  I think I will do something with the Big shot, stamps and distress inks.

Well, I have another idea for some Christmas cards going round in my head, so while the mood takes me I'm away to my craft room, while hubby sleeps and can't interrupt me.  xx

Well what wonderful weather we are having at the moment, it means I have been sat in the garden making Christmas Cards, I was determined to get an earlier start to them this year.

I have started with some cards for the the Motorcycle Club I'm a member of, these were made with a little bit of matt and layering and some peel offs, easy to complete.

Above is the first lot of cards I made and finished the end of last week.  The next 8 cards were started at the same time, but I didn't finish them until today.

I forgot to mention when I went to the motorbike rally a couple of weekends ago my bike won an award!  It won best customised 650, even though it is almost standard and the paint work is original, but as they say the Judge's decision is final, and if you wondering what the trophy is it a piston.

Well, I am now off to play with a stamp I recently purchased from Out of the Blue in Chipping Sodbury, it is of an owl and I have in mind to go autumnal we will have to wait and see what actually happens as it may go a different way when I'm working on it!

Gardening Leave

Hello Bloggers!

Sorry I have been absent from blogging for a while, as we have been away at a motorcycle rally weekend before last and needed this weekend for a bit of R & R.

Isn't it lovely to have had sunshine yet again today, we are being spoilt, but I'm loving it as I can craft in the garden.

Well from today I am on garden leave from work, then from 30th September I am redundant, so I am looking for a something to keep me occupied from October, in the meantime I have plenty of craft time.

As promised this is a card I have made in the past, it was for Mothers Day 2013, I used a Sheena Douglas stamp, the flowers were coloured in using Faber Polychromo Pencils, the rest was from my stash.

This is a card  I made after being inspired at a workshop with Amy & Carole,  it is a stepper card and I have used the "Love" word stamp and embossed in gold for the background, matt and layered using cream and gold mirri card, again the heart is stamped and embossed in gold.  The roses are using the Britannia Dies and a Marianne die for the swirls.
Of course the Wonderful Day card needed a box which I have made with my Hougie Board and instructions from one of the Hougie booklets by Kay.

This is a commission I have just completed, using a Keepsake board, the sentiment is a Pinflair peel off, the roses are courtesy of  the Britannia dies again, I have used Cosmic Shimmer Mist for colouring the blue roses and I have used Cosmic Pearlescant PVA for the blue and white pearl drops and other items from my stash.
and of course the box for the bookatrix card above.
Over the weekend I also got my beads out and made some tassells for my new leather waistcoat, pictures to follow of these.

I have attempted to use my melt pot, but I haven't been impressed with what I have produced so far, at least I can melt them down and play again.

I am away to enjoy the evening sun, see you soon. xx
