Last Weeks Workshop & Activity

Hello Everyone,

I can't believe it is February already, where has the time gone. Having so much rain is awful and my thoughts and prayers go to those who have been affected in this country. However it has meant that I haven't wanted to go out, just the excuse I needed to stay in and craft.   :)

If you have been following my blog you will be aware that I have recently ventured into jewellery making, I am still making cards, but it is nice to have a choice of crafty things to do. I am currently knitting myself a cardigan as well. I have knitted my husband a pair of socks, I just need to sew them up, he does like thick socks for riding his motorbike.

I am finding that sometimes craft skills overlap, I came across a lovely design for a friendship bracelet on Craftsy which uses 8mm beads and crochet, I just had to have a go and will show the completed bracelet soon.

I went on a Basic Bead Workshop run by Claire Thomas of  Bohemianbeads at Tanzee Designs

We made a  beaded floating necklace, bracelet and earrings

Above is a button bracelet and matching earrings.  Each chain in the bracelet has two buttons one either side.

the picture above is my very first attempt at Chainmaille

I have shown the Kumihimo necklace before, but I have now added a lovely glass heart pendant.

I have used a die to cut the square topper, I then used a celtic knot Dreamweaver stencil and gold paste, I distressed the patterned square by accident as I had made a mistake with the stencil and partially scrapping it off I noticed that it gave a nice distressed look.  I then matted on to white card, then onto copper mirri card and placed the topper on a 6" x 6" basic white card base.

I had seen Claire making a button bracelet during one of the Bead and Banter mornings and just had to have a go, I used 11mm 2 holed buttons and decided not to have a colour theme, which I think has worked very well.  I am part way through a matching button necklace, well it would have been criminal not to use the left over buttons.  :)

Please stay tuned for the next installment of Saffron Crafty Creations makes, who knows what we will bring next!
